Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Movie 1: Gurren-hen (Dub)
Animation studio Gainax presented a website for the release of a movie adaptation of the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann TV series in the fall of 2008. Both the original director and series script editor will return to work on the new project. Gainax will also be hosting four events to celebrate this occasion at this year's Tokyo International Anime Fair, featuring voice actors from the anime.

In the distant future, people build their homes and raise domestic animals in subterranean caverns called pits. A boy named Simon happens to find a small, shiny drill that unlocks not only a more promising, but also a quite dangerous future for humankind. Together with the reckless, charismatic leader Kamina and the trigger-happy Youko, they battle against ever more powerful gigantic robots — the Gunmen — on the planet's surface. The Spiral King's Four Supreme Generals are merciless in their quest to wipe mankind from the surface of the planet though. One such fierce battle costs Kamina's life. Simon is crushed by this, but saving Nia Teppelin, a discarded daughter of the Spiral King, gives Simon hope again...After destroying the Four Supreme Generals, Simon and his many human followers confront Lordgenome, the Spiral King, and defeat him. The parting words of the 1000-year-old Lordgenome, who calls himself the guardian of mankind, have an ominous ring to them though, for he warns the humans about leaving the planet for space where far greater danger awaits. Souchirou Nagi and Bob Makihara are two delinquents who arrive at Toudou Academy with the objective of ruling over the school with their strength. But on their first day, they encountered the Jyuukenbu, a martial arts group of the school. Members of the group, Maya Natsume, her sister Aya, and Masataka Takayanagi easily overpowered Souchirou and Bob.
And what’s more, due to what was assumed to be their “connections” with the Jyuukenbu, the two were attacked by members of the Enforcement Group, which oversees the martial arts groups of the school. Drawn into the personal conflicts between the Jyuukenbu and the Enforcement Group, Souchirou and Bob have no choice but to join up with Maya Natsume’s group and to hone their skills to become even stronger.

At the request of his father, tennis prodigy Ryouma Echizen has returned from America and is ready to take the Japanese tennis scene by storm. Aiming to become the best tennis player in the country, he enrolls in Seishun Academy—home to one of the best middle school tennis teams in Japan.
